The
founders of MuzikMafia, otherwise known as “The
Godfathers”, include
John Rich, Big Kenny, Jon Nicholson and Cory
Gierman. The Godfathers founded the phenomenon
back in October of 2001. Big Kenny, Rich, and
Nicholson would play with various guests at Nashville’s
Pub of Luv every Tuesday night, while Gierman
handled all of the Mafia’s business, making
sure everything was running smoothly.
The Godfathers main mission was to share their
love of muzik, and this is exactly what they
did. They shared it with whoever walked in the
door for no charge of any kind. Soon Nashville’s
movers and shakers began to take notice of this
weekly happening, and felt the Godfather’s
love of muzik needed to be shared with the masses.
Big Kenny, and John Rich were eventually signed
as the genre defying act, known as Big & Rich,
and Jon Nicholson was recently signed as well.
After Gretchen Wilson's long-time commitment
and selling over 5 million records, the Godfathers
honored her by declaring her the first Godmother
of the MuzikMafia in November of 2005.
