RACHEL KICE ORIGINAL PAINTING
HELPS RAISE 20,000 DOLLARS FOR
“COUNTRY IN THE ROCKIES”
NASHVILLE, TN—(February 5, 2007)—Experiential performance artist, Rachel Kice’s original painting signifying the creation of the single largest published songwriting collaboration helped raise 20,000 dollars at the 13th Annual "Country in the Rockies", a benefit music and ski event held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado that raises funds for cancer research through the T.J. Martell Foundation and The Frances Williams Preston Research Laboratory at the Vanderbilt University's Ingram Cancer Center.
The painting was part of an auction package including the original handwritten and autographed lyric book for the song titled "The Cure". The song was written by 65 artists and songwriters on the red carpet of the CMA Awards 40th Anniversary celebration in Nashville this past November and recorded 24 hours later by mega-hit songwriter Monty Powell. Powell performed the song live during Country in the Rockies prior to the auction. The painting and lyric landed in the hands of Margie Geddes of the Red Stripe Beer family.
About Country in the Rockies: Country in the Rockies is the signature fundraiser of the T.J. Martell Foundation’s Nashville Division.
