Atlantic Coast Conference Unveils “She Can Play” Remix
The theme song’s original songwriter Damien Horne produces another instant classic for basketball fans
GREENSBORO, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference unveils a new, high-energy version of the league’s women’s basketball theme song, “She Can Play,” in conjunction with the opening of the 2009-10 ACC women’s basketball season.
“She Can Play,” written and composed by Nashville singer/songwriter Damien Horne, first aired on Jan. 11, 2009. After getting to know several of the league’s coaches, student-athletes and women’s basketball fans as he traveled around to perform the first-ever ACC theme song last year, Horne has produced a new version for 2010 – one that the fans and athletes alike can better attribute to the fast-paced action of the ACC.
“The ‘She Can Play’ song, along with this year’s remix, puts our fans one step closer to fully understanding ACC Women’s Basketball,” stated ACC Associate Commissioner Nora Lynn Finch. “It is powerful when you can connect with your fans through music, and I believe that the lyrics are put to life each night our student-athletes take to the court in competition, representing the tradition and excellence that has been built before them.”
Horne and the ACC are committed to highlighting the energy, skill and excitement of ACC women’s basketball. Both the original “She Can Play” song and the remix music videos will be featured throughout the 2009-10 season and will culminate in March (Thursday, March 4th – Sunday, March 7th) at the 33rd Annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
Fans can hear the remix as well as follow along with the lyrics on www.theACC.com/SheCanPlay. In addition, fans can remain engaged throughout the season and enjoy the entertaining applications of the remix by following The ACC on Twitter at accwbb.
